Research projects

Sarphati Amsterdam provides an infrastructure for various research projects on non-communicable diseases and its prevention. The Sarphati Cohort is at the heart of this infrastructure. In addition, use is made of two large on-going cohort studies (ABCD and HELIUS) in Amsterdam. HELIUS = Healthy Life in an Urban Setting ABCD = Amsterdam Born Children and their Development Read more about these studies here Some of the research projects are funded entirely or partly by private parties.

Research projects can be split into three types:

  • Projects within the Sarphati Cohort
  • Projects within the other cohort studies in Amsterdam
  • Projects related to the Amsterdam Healthy Weight Programme (AAGG)

Projects within the other cohort studies in Amsterdam

Various projects will be started as part of Sarphati Amsterdam within the various existing cohort studies ABCD and HELIUS.

Projects related to the Amsterdam Healthy Weight Programme

Sarphati Amsterdam wants to contribute to the evaluation and strengthening of the Amsterdam Healthy Weight Programme (AAGG). To that end, we are not only conducting research into the effectiveness of interventions, but are also developing new interventions ourselves which will be tested in practice settings. At present, two AAGG studies are being conducted:

  • Lekker Gezond : evaluation of the JUMP-in nutritional intervention
  • Gezonde slaap among children in Amsterdam: the development of a universal, preventive intervention.
